After the Flood

I'll be back to regular blogging in the future, but I thought I would pop in to say hello and that we survived the flood in the middle Tennessee area. While our home is fine, certain areas of the small suburb of Nashville I live in sustained much damage, as well as West Nashville where my parents are located. By a true miracle, while they were trapped in their home for over 48 hours, their house stayed dry and had power while homes not even a mile from them were slowly filling with water. The devastation here seems surreal - especially when you start thinking of the many that are without homes and those that are temporarily unemployed due to the floodwaters. The Opryland Hotel alone employs thousands - right now it has about 10 feet of water standing in it, and by last estimation will be closed for several months while work is done to repair damage.

Please pray for our city, for the families of those that have lost people, and for those that are searching for a new normal as they find shelter, replace vehicles, and repair damage.

  7. It is mind boggling the damage that water can do. Our flooded river has returned to it's banks but the clean up continues. Homes throughout my neighborhood have giant dumpsters in the driveway as they clean out basements flooded by water seepage from a too high water table. And "my" mall is still closed after having 2-4 feet of water throughout the entire complex. All that to say, we've been there all too recently. Praying for your family as you minister to your community.

  8. WOW! About your folks...I was convinced that they had to be getting water in their home based on the news reports & knowing where they lived.

Did y'all get any water? We got a tiny bit in our garage/rec room...I need to get down here with some bleach and get rid of the smell. It is dry now & really with no damage. Love you, Kath

Hi.. I found your blog through Ali Edwards'and started reading it the week of "a week in the life". I also noticed rite away that you are a follower of Jesus Christ and knew that i would come back often to read about your life. I love to read the blogs of believers!!! I am so glad that you are safe and that it was not too bad for you but will pray for the many that were affected.

  10. So glad you avoided damage. We lost our computer to a lightning strike on Sunday, but I count that as nothing compared to the devastation all around us!
