Project Life ::: November 11-17, 2013

Another week of Project Life to share! I had very few photos this week so this is a mishmash of about three days all smashed together into something that flows together. I think. : )

Untitled

On the left:

Untitled

All the photos on this side of the layout (with the exception of me making lunch) were from the weekend prior. I had taken a bunch of photos on Sunday for a random 10 on the 10th project and there were several I wanted to use, but didn't want to add in an additional insert. It was providential that I was short of ton of pictures this week. This side chronicles a last minute date night on Saturday and the rest are shots from Sunday.

On the right:

Untitled

Again, short on pictures.
  • a group photo from a field trip to the Nashville Children's Theater to see Schoolhouse Rock with our homeschool group.
  • a sweet picture of N2 and E reading together. The big girls are so good about reading to him when he asks ... and he asks a LOT. This boy LOVES to be read to. Our little bedtime routine together where I have one-on-one read-aloud time with him is quite ridiculous in its length. (But we love it).
  • The last game of the season for B's soccer team.
  • Dinner with friends on a Saturday night
Untitled

A rare photo of myself in the album. I am working on doing better at this, but I am the one that takes most of our pictures. One of the girls snapped this attractive (not) shot while I was making lunch. Of the several shots that she took, I decided that this was the lesser of many evils and stuck it in, multiple chins and all.

Untitled

I made a note of a book that I had just finished. T suggested that I read this book - it was one that he had read and it popped up on his/our radar when we saw a preview for the movie that came out.

Untitled

(He is getting so big.)

And there you have it in a nutshell. All of the journaling cards from this week are from the November Studio Calico kit, I believe. And I used a Simple White template from Tracy Larson for the journaling card photo inserts. There's a good mix of "real" camera to iPhone shots as well. For the lack of pictures I had to work with, it turned out to be a pretty well-rounded week.

And that's all she wrote. : )

Project Life :: October 28 - November 3

Untitled

Project Life for the week of October 28 through November 3. We are just four or five weeks until the end of the year and I have a little backlog of weeks to get caught up on before the end of 2013. This is one of the weeks that I've managed to catch up on while we've enjoyed a few days of Thanksgiving break.

Untitled

On the left:

This is probably one of the few times that you will see me do this type of layout but the left side is all from one day. The reason: I took a day off of tutoring at Classical Conversations and had the chance to observe in N1 and B's class for the day. I love tutoring CC each week, and N2 is in my class so that means that I get to see lots of her. : ) However, that means it is hard to just be "mama" and sit in on the other girls' classes and watch them do presentations. I tutored B's class last year, but I've never been in class with N1 before so that was a real treat. All these photos are from that Tuesday - watching their tutors teach, watching our amazing pre-K tutor go over the science experiement with the little kids, and watching N1 and B do presentations. I had promised that the week that I was off, we could take our instruments for presentation and it was so fun to see them talk about them and share what they have been learning.

A few miscellaneous fall shots that I loved on the top. The bottom row is all from an event at our church on Saturday night. T spend a huge chunk of time this fall working with the youth at our church, putting together a youth band. Their first performance was the opening service of our annual Missions Conference and they knocked it out of the ballpark. It was so fun to see these kids take some of the worship songs that we sing regularly and put them into their own arrangements. And T was most definitely in his element - teach and music combined - and you could tell everyone up there was having a blast.

Untitled

The bottom right photo flips up to reveal a closer group photo and some journaling, but I didn't photograph it.

Supplies used:
Project Life Kraft kit I used the digi version.
Martha Stewart file folder labels (found at Staples)
Badges and sticker on the bottom right photo from my monthly Studio Calico kit

iPhone photos v. real camera: all photos are iPhone with the exception of the bottom row on the right layout. I actually broke out my point and shoot for a few pics.

Hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving week. : )

Project Life :: September 30–October 6

Birthday week! And the start of the world’s busiest fall break. : )

PLCreativeTeam4

Up above, on the left:
  • snaps of the boy. What a ham. (Button from one of my Studio Calico kits and digi paper from Paislee Press)
  • N1 presenting her paper in her Essentials class.
  • B & I playing with self-portraits in black and white
  • of note: I think most of the cards on the left are from random and assorted Studio Calico kits.
On the right – this whole side is devoted to the 10-year old. Her birthday was Thursday which involved the birthday girl’s choice of breakfast at Panera, going shooting with Daddy and lots of time in the kitchen whipping up birthday treats. The bottom right photo is from her birthday party which we had at the nearby bowling alley. This was our first out of the house / someone else take care of a lot of the details birthday party and I can’t say enough good things about a bowling party (at least at the place we used). It fit our budget, the kids had a ball, and they actually stood around and visited with each other which is my main complaint at birthday places where everyone runs off in a hundred different directions and you never even see the birthday person. Two thumbs up. The cards on this side are from one of the PL theme kits – Celebrate – which I spotted at Hobby Lobby and bought as a total impulse purchase. : )

Untitled

Untitled

(I was not having good luck taking great pictures today). More party shots on the back + cards from the Celebrate kit on the left.

Untitled

On the right above are a few photos from the rest of the week:
  • I served in the boy’s class at Bible study this week so a couple pictures from that.
  • and the rest of the photos are all from Sunday when we had a family lunch celebrating all the October birthdays. N1, our nephew, and the boy are all within a four day window.
Untitled

These next few pics are actually from the following week, but it continues on the birthday theme so I’m rolling with it. This is all about the boy and his day. His big request was the zoo with his cousin so we made it happen. The new kangaroo exhibit had just opened so that was a huge highlight!

Untitled

More cards from the Celebrate kit.

Untitled

Untitled

Also getting my money’s worth out of some Paislee Press digi templates I bought quite a while ago. They are great when you have lots of pictures you want to use but don’t want to add in tons of inserts.

Untitled

In other news, I knuckled down this week and finally finished the first half of 2013:

UntitledUntitled

It’s not overly stuffed – this goes through the first week of July. I could have probably added more, but it stops after our family trip to Ohio which was a natural place for a break between books. Noticeably absent is T and N2’s trip to Guatemala from this summer, but I’m planning on making a PL mini album with those pictures, hopefully sooner rather than later. Otherwise, it feels good to be less behind that I was before. : )

Project Life ::: August 19-24, 2013

Maybe one of my favorite layouts for a week, ever.

Untitled

Those eyes. : ) He’s my only blue-eyed one so I’m a little bit mesmerized by them when I can get a good shot of them. It just had to be the title card.

 Untitled

On the left:
  • reading to the boy during school
  • the current series that N1 is reading through (in the journaling pocket)
  • new desks for the girls
  • music lessons! (they come to the house! I don’t have to take the kids anywhere! I don’t have to entertain the boy at an hour and a half of lessons! This is a good. thing.)
Untitled

All the journaling cards in these layouts are from the August Studio Calico kit. I love how the cards really are so different, but they all tie together and don’t clash. Still thinking that the Project Life kit from SC has been a good investment for me this year. Other than having to purchase my PL pieces (a new binder, pocket pages, etc.) it has kept me out of the scrapbook store. : )

Untitled

On the right:
  • the current read-aloud
  • a boy and a dad playing a little guitar together
  • the little girls working together to climb a tree that was a bit too high for them. I told them I wasn’t going to help. : )
  • some shots of planning that I’ve been doing that I just liked. And this spiral notebook and this yellow folder are tools that I use every day so worth including.
  • a shot of N1 enjoying a piece of cake as we celebrated her and N2’s baptism a few weeks ago! I have an insert that covers that but didn’t include photos of it for this post.
Untitled

All the yellow scattered through these photos make me happy.

Untitled Untitled
And that’s all she wrote for this week. As of right now, I’m staying current with my album, but have a quite a few weeks that I got behind on last spring. Maybe our fall break will give me a little time to play catch-up? : )

Project Life Update ::: July 15-21

Yes, I’m behind on Project Life. About all I’m managing to get done right now with homeschooling is uploading and printing the week’s pictures. That way they are at least waiting on me when I get a moment to fill in my journaling cards. I found a very neat tutorial here and have started laying out my pages with post-its. Makes is super simple to see where my pictures go and what gaps I have to fill.
I used lots of summer colors this week - I used the July Project Life kit from Splendid Fiins almost exclusively and the colors just fly off the pages. I love them.
Untitled
On the left:
  • Notes on a new job for T.
  • a boy that crazy about swimming
  • school books in the mail

Untitled
I cut down a 12x12 page that had spots for six 4x6 photos and we had a little insert about N1’s week at overnight camp. She did the journaling on these two cards (both from the Bridgeport mini kit).
UntitledUntitled
She wrote us notes each day so those (of course!) had to be included. I just stuck them in a 6x6 pocket I had and left the top open. I’m sure we will want to pull them out and reread them someday! An extra picture from camp was stuck in the back.
UntitledUntitled
There was another 8 1/2x11 insert that I didn’t photograph that just had a piece of artwork one of the girls did and something that N2 wrote about her recent trip to Guatemala.
On the right:
  • Saying goodbye to one of our buddies that moved away.
  • Picking our girl up at camp. You see the liberal use of washi tape around this photo. It’s a homemade flip up pocket that you can see in greater detail below.
  • Photos from a friend’s karaoke party
  • The first journaling card is a pic of the boy shooting his toy gun along side Han and Luke one night as we watched Star Wars. I died at the cuteness.
  • Another little friend’s birthday party
  • ANOTHER birthday. This one for my sister. Covering up incriminating evidence so I don’t get in trouble. : )
IMG_2399ed
You can see my handy flip up pockets here. The flip up in the journaling card spot is also from Splendid Fiins – so handy for an extra bit of hidden journaling.

And that’s all she wrote for this week.

Project Life ::: April 15-21

Another catch up week here – lots of photos and just a few words. I had one insert which I didn’t photograph. It was the girls’ testing sheets from their CC memory work and I didn’t feel it exciting enough to share. : )
DSC_8139
On the left:
  • the boy and the dog reading together
  • documenting our testing. The journaling card shot shows N1 testing with her tutor and below that is the happy testers finally done.
  • another CC shot in the middle – this one flips up (you can see it later down in the post) from N2’s class. Another mom sent me these pictures and I am so thankful for them! I wasn’t able to go visit her class due to tutoring and I hated not having any pictures from her year.
  • snuggling a brand new babe
DSC_8140
On the right:
  • books that were added to our library for this fall’s schooling. It’s never to early to start accumulating books!
  • from small group on a Thursday night
  • my tree climbing duo
  • a shot of my mom shirt that I wore to N1’s games this spring
  • N2 and T practicing for church
DSC_8141
Love this photo of the four girls! And my flip-up washi taped pocket did the trick to add some journaling.

Project Life ::: April 22-28, 2013

Today we had an unheard of Saturday. One where absolutely NOTHING was on the calendar. Fabulous. It has been a day of getting things done around here. T has been doing some home maintenance kinds of things, and I’ve made a quick run out for produce and ice cream (a.k.a. necessities!) Otherwise, we’ve been working on projects and just enjoying the day as a family! To that end, I managed to get the journaling finished on THREE PL weeks. Yahoo. : ) I’m only sharing one of them on the blog. The other two were both weeks that wrapped up tons of end of the year activities and programs and I just didn’t have the stamina to mess with photographing and writing a post about those two weeks. I may share a few highlights later, but today, it’s all about April.
Untitled
On the left:
  • I made a title card from the digi Kraft kit because I needed a spot to put this great picture of a cow!
  • N1 reading at someone’s soccer game.
  • a great night at softball where she got one of the game balls
  • another shot at another soccer practice
Untitled
In the journaling card slots there is a picture of the boy at a softball (lots of game and practice shots in this week!) and one that is a screen shot from my phone after run.
On this side we have:
  • a field trip documented
  • a boy playing peek-a-boo
  • the one photo from a party for my parents’ birthday (complete with photobombing nephew)
  • T and the boy out for a daddy-date for pizza
Untitled
I needed a place to put my journaling for the our field trip to Hatcher Dairy so I used one of Splendid Fiins flips digi journaling cards. I forgot I had these, but it worked great to get some extra writing in!
UntitledUntitled
Martha Stewart file labels seem to make it in almost every layout.
Untitled
Super simple and so glad to see another one in the books.

One of my goals this year has been to diversify my reading. As I've spent the last 17 years homeschooling anywhere from 1-4 kids, I woul...
